inventory.

A home inventory is the list nobody makes until after the flood. With Simple Capture it is a few short videos: open the closets, pan the shelves, get close to the labels. It lists the items in every scene, copies out model and serial numbers it can read, and keeps the video as proof.

How to do it

One video, about a minute of waiting, and the page is ready.

  1. One video per room

Pan slowly, open closets and drawers, and don't forget the garage, the attic and the shed.

  2. Say what the camera can't see

"Bought this TV in 2024, about nine hundred dollars." Your words land next to the item.

  3. Get close to labels and receipts

Model plates, serial stickers and paper receipts are copied out word for word.

  4. Ask for the inventory

Say "make a home inventory for my insurer." You get a page grouped by room, with photos, that you can share by private link.

Tips

  • Redo a room after a big purchase. Each video is dated in your library.
  • Film receipts and manuals in the same video as the item.
  • The same inventory doubles as a list to sell, give away or move.

Where it stops

  • Capture doesn't value your things or tell you what your policy covers.
  • Prices are what you say or what it reads on a tag or receipt. It doesn't look them up.
  • There is no barcode scanner. Items come from what the camera sees.
